Chip programmers are either In System Programmers (ISP) or socket programmers. This category lists socket programmers for specific devices. These are cheaper than Universal Chip Programmers, which support a wide range of chips.
Socket chip programmers are great for initial development, when no ISP circuit is available or where the target can't be programmed in system. For low cost and small volume chip programming, they are ideal.
This category has sections for PIC microcontrollers, AVR programmers, Memory and microcontroller based Smart Cards, Serial EEPROMs (including AT17 series FPGA configurators) and FPGAs from Altera (Intel) and Xilinx.
